Symbolic figures for a more and more mistreated Justice.A popular Justice, locked into a railings in the grotesque and lunar faces. Such appears the Magistrates' court of Mulhouse, with which I have already handled these decorations in other pages (in french). However, in this time of at the beginning of year 2016 when the French and/or European society guarantees more and more for the arbitrary power through laws of exception and other states of emergency, see again in Mulhouse the way our forefathers wanted to illustrate and to surround a building dedicated to the Justice, seemed me to have to be to show, to re-show. This cheerful and monstrous side of these wrought iron characters has a side which a little reminds me in said by Villon, such ' The ballad of the hung ' ... ../... If we call you brothers, you should not .../...
The magistrates' court of Mulhouse was finished in 1902 by the architect of Strasbourg Joseph Müller. The whole building is classified, but not in particular the railings of surrounding wall, reproduced partially here. |
