Some photos around barbed wires, hoping that it is not a symbol of our society.

 

I read recently Olivier Razac's article in Monde diplomatique, entitled " Philosophy of the barbed wire ". He explained that the barbed wire continued to be used with constancy, while having been modernizing is under his(her,its) shape 'razor blades' under as shrubby hedges in the sharp thorns.

The author learns us that the barbed wire, in the origins, was used, among others, during Boer Wars in South Africa, and to enclose the lands of the Native Americans, from the end of the 19th century. Without speaking obviously about the massive use which was made from the war 14-18. Read also the article of Wikipedia to this subject.

We begin to find track that shyly in the French dictionaries that from 1890.
Barbed wires were called first of all artificial brambles.
