Some thoughts on a little disjointed collection of leaves and the competitiveness of nations.
Collect leaves a silly side, especially when it is repeated almost every day in early autumn, on the same lawn, near a university campus.
We are here in Latvia (this could be anywhere ... the place is not particularly representative), where the wages of those services is very low. That does not show these pictures is that the pickups on the lawn took place almost every day during the two weeks I spent there.
The usefulness of such actions is probably very weak in dimension repeatedly, without the need to identify pedestrian crossings to avoid slipping.
But if these service people (here and a couple of women) are paid monthly, the process can be understood, if it makes them live.
And that management is also probably quite justified locally - we're not here to judge, only people can.
But where is the profit in all this and what about the competitiveness of a nation that uses such practices, we could argue!
This question is echoing the thoughts of Gilles Ardinat in his article "Staying ahead 'of' Le Monde Diplomatique
this October, and could be an illustration, stressing that nation, a society, can not be measured solely in the light of its economic competitiveness.
Hence the resulting reflection, an expense should not always be judged by its profitability but also
equally, with respect to its utility or social weight.
Also say that this inherently unproductive work! - What think these workers? Is it better to work of this kind paid by the company
(in one way or another) or non-activity offset by income type 'Active solidarity revenue' (RSA in french)
This to do with the famous "competitiveness" of a nation,
but also the dignity of each (and again I do not know if it is better to work with a part pointless probably pretty low income, or less work and income type unemployment in substitution).
... Knowing the inevitable rise in unemployment, global ...
Indeed it is necessary to enter the parameter that during spray (robot) growing society diminishes the amount of work that remains to man, we talk about crafts (robotic factories, agriculture .. .) but also intellectual (see in this respect the computerized drafting systems (robotic) Press article, or the place that the computer systems to forecast stock taking part instead of traders.
Traders included here to emphasize the gap
- between the activity of financial speculation that has a direct effect on everyone's life despite its totally fictitious useful in our society even if derived from a model pernicious (in my opinion)
- a simple and practical work of collecting leaves, unproductive but has a sense socially.
Caricaturing one might ask the following question:
Living tirelessly collecting leaves or live to do nothing?
If you want to respond to a few comments on this type of problems whose answers are never simple, space will open at the bottom of this page to add your thoughts.
